Bryan Redpath extends with Gloucester

Gloucester Rugby Head Coach Bryan Redpath will continue on his position until at least the end of the 2010-11 season as he has extended his contract with the club.

At the same time, Forwards Coach Carl Hogg and Head of Medical Services Bob Stewart have also extended their contracts to keep them at Kingsholm until the end of 2010-11 and 2011-12 respectively.

With Denis Betts already under contract until the end of 2010-11, the news provides Gloucester Rugby with welcome stability in the coaching set up following the recent news that 11 players have signed new contracts with the club.

Redpath putting pen to paper is an endorsement of the work that the former Scottish international has put in since he took on the role in June 2009 and the progress that the side have made in recent times.

Gloucester Rugby Managing Director Ken Nottage said today,”We’re delighted that Bryan has pledged his future to Gloucester Rugby. However, he will be the first to admit that it’s a team effort and the news that Carl and Bob have done likewise is similarly pleasing.”

“Everyone at Gloucester Rugby craves success and this news, coupled with the recent player announcements, shows that we are committed to improvement both on and off the pitch.”

Redpath moved to Kingsholm from Sale Sharks as backs coach in 2007 before taking on the role of Head Coach in June 2009 following the departure of Dean Ryan.

He acknowledged that his first season in charge has not always been plain sailing but that he is convinced that things are heading in the right direction:

“We’ve had a lot of challenges thrown at us this season, from injuries to suspensions and we’ve been a bit unlucky to be on the wrong end of a few results.”

“However, we have a long term vision here at the club and we’re striving to put the pieces in place to give Gloucester Rugby the best possible chance of long term success.”

“I truly believe that we’re moving in the right direction and the players who have signed new contracts recently obviously feel that way too.”

“I can now focus on the job in hand and I’m very happy to have signed on the dotted line because it’s a great set up here at Gloucester.”
