Baldwin McBean back for SWD Eagles

Baldwin McBean is back on the wing for the South Western District Eagles for Saturday’s First Division rugby match against the Border Bulldogs at Outeniqua Park. McBean warmed the reserve bench for the last couple of weeks after an injury earlier in the season.

With him sidelined, Bobby Joubert was moved from fullback to left wing where the former Grey College pupil did a sterling job.

Now coach Johann Lerm has decided it is time for McBean to return – and this time Joubert will start on the replacment bench. McBean will obviously grab the opportunity with both hands.

Lerm has also given centre Sinethemba Zweni the nod in the starting line-up ahead of Izak Saayman, who moves to the bench.

Flanker Victor Joubert returns from a rib injury and comes in for Sevens Springbok Schalk van der Merwe, who has opted to continue his career at Rovigo in Italy.

With tighthead prop Willa Schoeman still not available, Tiaan de Kock once again wears the No 3 jersey with Jaco Terblanche replacing Brood van der Westhuizen at loosehead prop. Hooker Junior Leota also gets a chance in the starting line-up.

The SWD team is:

Bevin Fortuin (capt), Norman Nelson, Sinethemba Zweni, Joe Breytenbach, Baldwin McBean, Gaffie du Toit, Jandré Blom, Jody Burch, Shawn Raubenheimer, Victor Joubert, Henry Grimes, Wikus Liebenberg, Tiaan de Kock, Junior Leota, Jaco Terblanche.

Replacements: Wayne Bennett, Wikus Harmse, Brood van der Westhuizen, Jacques Engelbrecht, Ricardo Croy, Izak Saayman, Bobby Joubert.
