The South Western District Eagles rugby team will start the second round of the Currie Cup’s First Division with “fresh heads”, coach Johann Lerm said on Sunday.
The Eagles’ management team called upon well-known sports physiologist Jannie Botha earlier this week for a two day seminar. Botha has not only assisted most provinces in South Africa in the past, but also some of America’s top basketball teams.
“Yes, we have fresh heads for the next couple of weeks,” said Lerm.
“Dr. Botha’s contribution was hugely appreciated by all the players and coaches and I am convinced that his input will be clearly visible when we start the second round next weekend.”
Botha especially concentrated on the players believing in themselves, the system and their team-mates, but also emphasised the importance of responsibility and setting up a winning culture.
“The players are all very motivated and can’t wait to get back onto the field,” Lerm said.
The Eagles had a one week break and are back in action when they take on the Border Bulldogs at Outeniqua Park next Saturday.
