EP Elephants out to do the Currie Cup double

The Eastern Province Elephants will be out to repeat their victory over the Border Bulldogs in the first round of the First Division rugby competition when the two neighbours clash in the Sisa Dukashe Stadium in Mdantsane, East London, on Saturday.

EP won the first round match at Uitenhage 16-10. Since then the Elephants have become a much improved side with several top players joining the Port Elizabeth outfit, while the Bulldogs are also playing with renewed confidence after their first victory against the Valke last weekend.

EP will start Wesley Dunlop at flyhalf after an average performance against the SWD Eagles in Port Elizabeth last weekend. Dunlop is on loan from the Sharks Academy after Jaco van Schalkwyk was sidelined with an injury.

Dunlop, however, was thrown into the deep end on very short notice and therefore deserves to het another run. This time he teams up with Marlon Lewis whick could just help to settle the nerves.

The EP team is:

Ryan Brown, Rocco Jansen, Siviwe Magaba, De Wet Barry (capt), Howard Noble, Wesley Dunlop, Marlon Lewis, Lubabalo Mzwakali, Jacques Potgieter, Enoch Panya, Ruahan van Jaarsveld, Andries Smit, Raoul Larson, Herkie Liebenberg (v/c), Pumlani Nodikida.

Replacments: Robert Dyer, Sangoni Mxoli, Michael Vermaak, Elroy Ligman, Chad Erskine, Carl Bezuidenhout, Alipate Fatafehi.
