Three Stade players get Swine Flu in Top 14

Three Stade Francais rugby players have been diagnosed with swine flu, the club said Monday.

The players, whose identities were not revealed, will be rested between 5 and 7 days depending on their symptoms, Stade Francais said in a statement.

Their teammates will be given preventative treatment.

“After suffering flu-like symptoms for 24 hours, three players from the club have contracted the H1N1 virus,” the club said.

However, it added that it is also possible the players have contracted a related virus called H2N3, which is less virulent.

Further test are expected to confirm on Tuesday the exact strain of the virus.

Health authorities said Monday that a total of 10 people have died of swine flu in France and its overseas territories.
