Eagles promise more to come in Currie Cup

The best of the South Western District Eagles rugby side is still to come. This is the stern warning coach Johann Lerm has issued ahead of Saturday’s First Division match against Eastern Province in Port Elizabeth.

“Yes, we were very impressive in downing the Valke 47-15, but there was still a lot of tries that went begging.

“We could have scored several more had we not taken several players off at halftime. We are definitely not in fifth gear yet, Lerm said.”

The Eagles led 40-0 at the interval when Lerm decided to give his bench a change as well – a half wehich the home side lost 7-15. Lerm’s warning is not good news for the Elephants, who also beat the Valke in their last outing a fortnight ago.

Lerm, however, realises that EP at home is never easy and that this encounter will be a brand new challenge.

The presence of Alan Solomons and former Springbok prop Robbie Kempson will definitely ensure a positive mood in the EP camp, but Lerm is ready for the challenge.

A win for the Eagles will make them strong contenders for a home semi-final later this season.
