The return of left wing Baldwin McBean seems to be on the cards when SWD Eagles rugby coach Johann Lerm announces his side on Wednesday to face bottom-of-the-log Valke at Outeniqua Park at George in a First Division match on Saturday.
McBean did not play against the Griffons (at George) and the Pumas (at Witbank) because of injury. But he is now back to full fitness and raring to go.
In McBean’s absence fullback Bobby Joubert filled ther No 11 spot with distinction, scoring a great try against the Griffons after a perfectly aimed cross kick by flyhalf Gaffie du Toit.
But Lerm might also make a change or two to his pack where aggressive Samoan hooker Junior Leota could come into the picture.
Leota started his first match for the Eagles on the bench in last weekend’s Witbank clash.
n the 20 minutes that he has been on the field he had limited opportunities to show his worth, but nearly scored a try before he was bundled out.
Lerm’s biggest concern, however, is the lack of tries. In three outings so far, the Eagles could only score four tries which is definitely not an indication of the explosive backline Lerm has.
