Bourgoin captain Julien Frier was cited on Tuesday for punching an opponent during his side’s 15-3 defeat by English side Northampton in last Friday’s European Challenge final, the tournament organisers ERC announced.
The Bourgoin backrow forward was cited by match commissioner Ray Wilton for punching Scottish international prop Euan Murray – no date or venue for the hearing was set.
However, in what was a niggly and sometimes dirty encounter – Bourgoin’s backrow forward Thomas Genevois was sent off – Northampton’s Courtney Lawes had not been cited according to an ERC spokesman despite his late tackle on France scrum-half Morgan Parra.
Parra has since had to pull out of France’s tour of New Zealand and Australia because of a serious shoulder injury which came as a result of the tackle.
