Saints will have to be at their best : Mallinder

Director of rugby Jim Mallinder says that the Northampton Saints team will have to be at its very best to beat Saracens in tomorrow evening’s European Challenge Cup semi-final.

The Challenge Cup is the last opportunity for both clubs to achieve silverware and a route into the 2009/10 Heineken Cup, and Mallinder says that Saracens will be difficult and motivated opposition.

“Saracens have been playing well recently,” he said.

“They have a powerful set of forwards who can provide a good platform and in Neil de Kock and Glen Jackson Saracens have half-backs who can control a game.

“They play an attacking style of rugby and in players like Richard Haughton and Noah Cato they have the talent and pace to exploit any opportunities they can create.”
