Three up, three to play Guinness Premiership

With three rounds of the Guinness Premiership left to play, three teams sit level at the top of the table on 57 points, providing a fitting denouement to the world’s most competitive league.

Harlequins’ comprehensive 60-14 win over Worcester Warriors took them to the top of the Guinness Premiership table; the bonus point drawing them level on 57 points with Leicester Tigers and Bath Rugby and their glut of points putting them ahead of those two on points difference.

Gloucester Rugby now sit in the fourth and final semi-final place, having been leap-frogged by Bath Rugby after their 22-14 win over London Wasps at the Recreation Ground.

Bath Rugby play their second match at the Recreation Ground in four days as they welcome new leaders Harlequins in the most notable of this weekend’s fixtures. The match gets underway at 2.45pm and will be covered live on Sky Sports 2.

That match will be followed on Sky Sports 2 by the match at Welford Road between second placed Leicester Tigers and sixth placed Sale Sharks, kick-off 5.00pm. Defeat for Sale would all but rule them out of a semi-final spot, with London Irish sitting in fifth, four points better off.

Fifth placed London Irish play a rejuvenated Bristol Rugby at the Madejski Stadium and fourth placed Gloucester Rugby must travel to Franklin’s Gardens to play Northampton Saints, both matches kicking off at 3pm on Saturday 4th April.

In the final Saturday match, Worcester Warriors play Saracens, also at 3pm, whilst on Sunday at 3pm London Wasps play Newcastle Falcons with the Falcons chasing their dream of Heineken Cup rugby next season.

All the teams must be announced by 12noon tomorrow for these crunch matches.
