Mallinder aiming to get Saints back on track

Director of rugby Jim Mallinder today called on the Northampton Saints team to increase their level of performance dramatically for tomorrow’s Guinness Premiership Round 16 match at Worcester.

Saints head to Sixways on Saturday in the knowledge that even with their international players back from Six Nations duty they will have to put in a full effort throughout the 80 minutes if they are to achieve a positive result.

“Sixways will be a tough place to visit this weekend,” said Mallinder. “Worcester have been public in saying that this is a key game they have targeted and we are under no illusions that it will be a difficult game.

” They have a good set of forwards, are physical in midfield and have plenty of pace out wide. Furthermore they have some top class players like Chris Latham and Dale Rasmussen who are likely to return to action tomorrow.

“We were very disappointed with our performance against Newcastle. But we have to turn that into a positive. We were very hurt coming off the field last weekend and don’t want to feel the same way at the end of the game tomorrow. The players have worked hard during the week and are looking forward to showing their full potential against Worcester.

“We know we can perform away from home. We showed that we can impose ourselves and dominate a game two weeks ago at Wasps. We need to replicate that same commitment and level of performance.”
