London Irish lose Casey and Hewat for six weeks

London Irish’s Guinness Premiership play-off hopes have been hit by the news that they will be without inspirational captain Bob Casey for most of the remaining season.

It has been reported that Casey has had on operation on his right bicep which he damaged playing against Bath in February.

“We’re hoping for a speedy recovery because he’s our captain and the talisman of the team.” head coach Toby Booth told BBC Radio Berkshire.

“He had an operation last week and it’s probably going to be six weeks or so.”

The loss of Casey comes as a further blow to the club as they have also lost the services of Australian Peter Hewat for a similar period as he continues to recover from a medial ligament injury.
