Larrachea and Couzinet suspended

Sale Sharks full-back and Biarritz lock David Couzinet have each been suspended for six weeks by the ERC disiplinary committee after being cited from the last round of Pool matches in January.

Larrechea, who had been cited for ‘head-charging’, eye-gouging and spitting, was found guilty only of the alleged gouging, with an ERC statement saying that the disciplinary committee ‘upheld the citing finding that there was contact with the eye / eye area but did not find that the player had spat or led with his head.’

Larrechea has been suspended for six weeks, back-dated to January 21 when Sale Sharks suspended him. He will be free to play again on March 7.

Couzinet was found guilty of stamping on an opponent during Biarritz’s match with Northampton Saints on January 20, and was suspended for six weeks. He will be free to play again on March 23.
