Ospreys confirm Haskell interest

The Ospreys have confirmed that the England international and Wasp James Haskell has been to Swansea to check out the Welsh region and their facilities.

However, despite the 23-year-old coming out of contract with London Wasps at the end of the current campaign, a move to the Liberty Stadium from from being signed and sealed.

Haskell is one of a large number of Wasps’ players out of contract in May and has been the subject of significant interest from high profile clubs such as Sale, Saracens and Toulouse.

The Ospreys moved quickly to confirm their interest and the region’s elite performance director, Andrew Hore told the Telegraph, “James has been down to have a look at our facilities, and to see what the Ospreys are all about, after we received an approach from the player’s representative.

“For a current England international to be showing such an interest in the Ospreys is a clear sign of our growing status in the game, and while we have not actively been seeking a move for James, understandably, we were pleased to be able to meet him.”

The Ospreys already have Wales No 8 Ryan Jones and Filo Tiatia but the latter has recently signed to take on a player-coach role which will surely reduce the number of games he plays next season so the region are looking for a replacement.
