Szarzewski sidelined for Six Nations

French hooker Dimitri Szarzewski might undergo surgery on an injured shoulder that would rule him out of the remainder of the Six Nations.

“He will consult his club doctor before deciding on a possible operation,” French manager Jo Maso said Monday.

Maso added that such surgery would rule the 14-time capped Stade Francais player out for three months.

According to Maso, Szarzewski, who came on as a replacement in the 39-3 hammering of Italy on Saturday, “has been carrying this injury for three months and felt a pain again during the match against the Italians”.

France beat Ireland 39-3 in a First Round Six Nations match at the weekend and will face Ireland at Croke Park in Dublin on Sunday.
