Vickery expects to play in the final

Wasps prop Phil Vickery says that he expects to play in Saturday’s Guinness Premiership final against Leicester after recovering from the knee injury he picked up in April.

“I’ve fully trained this week and I’m down on the team sheet to play.” Vickery told the BBC.

“All being well I’m looking forward to walking out the tunnel at Twickenham.”

Earlier on Thursday Wasps director of rugby Ian McGeechan had not been as positive about Vickery’s chances, saying that the club had adopted a “wait and see” attitude over his fitness.

“He’s doing some light training. It’s still early days,” McGeechan told the BBC.

Both clubs are set to announce their teams for the final on Friday.
