Laporte not a fan of Kapa O Pango

French rugby coach Bernard Laporte is already upping the ante three months ahead of his national side’s two test series against the All Blacks.

The All Blacks are scheduled to play tests in Lyon and Paris on November 11 and 18 respectively after their test against England.

Laporte has added his voice to the chorus of those to have already criticised the controversial new haka, Kapa O Pango, this year. Laporte described the All Black war dance with its much discussed throat-slitting gesture as “no good for the promotion of our sport.”

He is reportedly concerned that the French and international audiences predominantly unfamiliar with Maori culture will misinterpret the haka.

“You cannot justify doing whatever you want,” said Laporte.
