Hurricanes shut out by Waratahs

Both of these sides will want to have a better season than the one they had last year. The Waratahs in particular had an awful season going from Semi finalists to near bottom of the loggers.

It took fifteen minutes for either team to score but it was the Waratahs who scored first as Lachie Turner flew out on the wing to score in the corner. Kurtley Beale converted.


The Waratahs gave a penalty away so Jimmy Gopperth took the kick and slotted it putting the Hurricanes on the scoreboard.


Kurtley Beale had a shot at goal after the Hurricanes gave away a penalty but the ball went to the left of the posts.


Another penalty was awarded to the Waratahs and again Kurtley Beale took the kick only this time the kick was good.

Rocky Elsom scored the first points of the second half extending the lead a little just two minutes into the half. Kurtley Beale was unable to add the extras.


Sustained pressure gave the Waratahs the overlap and Lachlan Turner was on the wing again and scored his second try today.


Kurtley Beale missed the conversion taking his kicking percentage to below 50%.


The Waratahs go in search of the bonus point try and send it down the line but in the tackle Ma’a Nonu puts a knee in whcih earns him a yellow card.


The penalty sees the Waratahs on attack with a man over and they get the overlap but Eaton snatches and gets the ball to ground. A scrum follows and as the Waratahs break through for the bonus point try and there is a forward pass to Sam Harris.
