Toulon angrily deny doping allegations

Mourad Boudjellal is understood to be interested in buying the EP Kings

Three time European Rugby Champions Toulon have reacted angrily to allegations
that they have been doping and denied all claims against them.

Prosecutors from Marseille are investigating several pharmacies in the Cote
d’Azur and Toulon after notification from France’s anti-doping authority.

Reports have alleged that Toulon players has been supplied with anabolic steroids.

Toulon’s owner Mourad Boudjellal has hit back angrily at the allegations saying,
“No player is concerned in this affair, it is totally unfounded information.
This is related to a social security fraud that concerns the pharmacist not
RCT.”

Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin has been reported as saying that the investigation
surrounded medication sales by Toulon pharmacists but at this stage no doping
allegations have been proven.

Toulon have won the last three European Rugby cups and the squad is made up
of the world’s rugby super stars.

Former France coach Bernard Laporte is the current coach but he will be moving
on and mounting a challenge to become president of the French Rugby Union.

Under Laporte the club have enjoyed great success and this has helped them
to sign stars from around the world including Ireland captain Paul O’Connell
who will join after the world cup.

In a statement Boudjellal hinted at internal politics amid Laporte’s future
ambitions as playing a role in the investigations.

“I have a strong feeling there is a will against Toulon and a person
who is running for president of the FFR,” he said.
