Cape Town based Super Rugby franchise the Stormers say that they can’t wait to test themselves against Super Rugby’s newcomers the Jaguars in a pre-season friendly at Newlands on February 13.
Super Rugby expands to 18 teams in 2016 and one of the new team will be the Jaguars from Argentina and will feature a number of the Pumas’ 2015 World Cup stars.
The Stormers’ first pre-season friendly will be against the South Western District Eagles in George on Saturday, January 30.
Stormers head coach Robbie Fleck said that the two pre-season fixtures should give the squad a good opportunity to execute what they have been working on in training.
“It has been a tough pre-season conditioning phase, so it will be good to see what sort of progress we have made when we face the Eagles and the Jaguares.
“After these two games we hope to have a clear idea of where we are, so that come the start of SupeRugby we have a squad who are match ready.
“It will be good to go back to George where we enjoyed great support from the public on our training camp, before facing a potent Jaguares side back home at Newlands.
“The Jaguares have the potential to surprise a lot of people this season, so it will be a great test for us to ensure we are ready to make a strong start to the competition, ” said Fleck.
