Stormers lock Michael Rhodes to join Saracens

English Premiership Rugby club Saracens have signed Western Province and Stormers lock/flanker Michael Rhodes for next season.

The Stormers and Western Province forward Rhodes will join Saracens at the end of the Super Rugby season in time for the new Northern Hemisphere season.

Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall said that they had been looking at Rhodes for some time.

“We have some time ago identified Michael as a player who could make significant contribution to the squad, playing in the second row or the back row, carrying the ball and we are confident we can provide an environment where he will realise his full potential

“We’re delighted he will be joining us next season,” said McCall.

Rhodes began his professional career with The Sharks in Durban before he moved to Johannesburg where he played for the Lions.

Rhodes then joined Western Province and the Stormers in 2013.
