Springboks add Coenie Oosthuizen to squad

Coenie Oosthuizen has joined the Springboks

Sharks prop Coenie Oosthuizen has been added to the Springbok squad in Port Elizabeth as extra front row cover following Trevor Nyakane’s withdrawal.

Nyakane is struggling with an ankle injury and withdrew from the squad yesterday so Oosthuizen is an injury replacement.

The experienced Oosthuizen was called up to the Bok camp to cover the loosehead and tighthead positions.

Nyakane hurt his ankle last Saturday in the Boks’ win over Ireland in the second Test played in Johannesburg.

The 27-year-old Oosthuizen has earned 23 Springboks caps to date and recently played for the SA ‘A’ side in their two-match series against the England Saxons.

The Springboks have a training free day on Wednesday and the Bok team to face Ireland in the deciding third Test this Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, will be named on Thursday.
