Scotland centre Taylor commits to Saracens

Duncan Taylor has signed a long term contract with Saracens

Aviva Premiership Rugby club Saracens have announced that Scotland centre Duncan Taylor has signed a long term contract with the Allianz Park club.

The in-form Scotland centre, who was recently included in Vern Cotter’s Scotland squad for the upcoming Six Nations, has pledged his future to Saracens after signing a ‘multi-year’ contract with the Aviva Premiership champions.

The versatile back, who has featured for Saracens at centre, wing and full back, joined the club from Bedford Blues as a dual registered player at the start of the 2011/12 season and has gone on to make 81 appearances for the north Londoners, and was a key member of the club’s 2014/15 Aviva Premiership winning side.

Speaking about extending his contract with Saracens: “To extend my contract here was such an easy decision to make. Saracens are such a great club filled with great people and great players, we’re doing well at the moment in all competitions and it’s such an enjoyable place to come to every day.

“It is the people I work alongside everyday who make this club so special, and I’d never want to leave that behind. It’s those people who make you come into work every day with a smile on your face and that makes you enjoy your rugby. Obviously the team has been very successful in recent years, and we’re all part of a team that believes is capable of some special things, but it’s the people and the environment that makes this club what it is.

“The club has helped me develop into the player I am today, and have put it in so much work which has seen me improve both on and off the pitch. I thoroughly enjoy every minute playing alongside these boys and I’m delighted to have committed my long-term future to the club to continue to do that.”

Mark McCall: “Duncan is one of the game’s most underrated players. He can cover so many positions and I don’t think he gets the credit for the wonderful work he can do with and without the ball. His work-rate and contribution to this team is enormous. He’s a brilliant player who will only get better and better, so we’re delighted that he’s committed his future to the club.”
