Saracens sign England Saxons centre Tompkins

English Premiership champions Saracens have secured England Saxons centre Nick Tompkins penning a three-year deal to remain at Allianz Park.

Tompkins, who has made 35 appearances for Saracens since his debut against Leicester Tigers as 17-year old in 2012, was part of the victorious England Saxons tour of South Africa earlier this summer and is one of a number of players to have put pen to paper to remain at the English and European champions.

“Nick has a very bright future in the game and we’re very happy that he has committed his future to the club,” said director of rugby, Mark McCall.

“He has continued to progress over the last few seasons and we believe there’s still a lot more to come from him. He is a bright, talented, English player with a lot of potential. It’s very important for us as a club to see academy players make the transition from age-group rugby to the wider squad and Nick has proven that he can make that step-up. We now have a number of players in our squad who have come through our academy system, which is very important to health of the club as a whole.

“It was great to see him perform so well this summer in South Africa with the Saxons and we’re looking forward to seeing him develop further at Allianz Park.”

Speaking about his new-deal, 21-year old Tompkins said: “I’m still a young player and I’m at the perfect place to develop. I’m really happy at Saracens so I am glad to commit my future here.”
