All Black and Chiefs centre Richard Kahui looks to be on target to make his return to Super Rugby in the opening week of this season.
Kahui has been in rehabilitation following his fourth shoulder reconstruction in six years.
Super Rugby winning coach Chiefs coach Dave Rennie says Kahui is progressing well.
"Hard to keep him out of things to be honest," Rennie told NewstalkZB.
"He's still got a bit of work to do on range of motion but strength's right back, he's incredibly fit and sharp.''
Rennie said that the aim was to have Kahui play at least one Super Rugby warm up game, but confirmed that it would not be the first on which is in a fortnight's time in Taupo.
