London Irish ended their Anglo Welsh LV Cup campaign with a 23-15 victory over Gloucester at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

London Irish full-back Tom Homer was his team's hero as he gave a faultless kicking display, scoring 18 points via six penalties.

Homer punished any infringements by the Cherry and Whites within goalkicking range and on two occasions he landed spot-kicks from 40 metres, as well as a monster effort from just inside the halfway mark.

The Exiles' only other points came through a try in the first half by hooker Brian Blaney, who scored after fly-half Dan Bowden and former England centre Shontayne Hape did well in the build-up.

London Irish did not have things going their own way though, and Gloucester's young wing Ian Clark almost upstaged Homer by scoring two well-taken tries.

Their other points came from a conversion and penalty former England captain Mike Tindall, who did duty at fly-half.
