Wallabies winger Digby Ioane has been ruled out of Saturday's Bledisloe Cup match against the All Blacks in Sydney on Monday due to a painful knee injury.

The Wallabies ended the Rugby Championship with a 19-25 victory over Argentina's Pumas but still have one Bledisloe Cup match to play before going on tour. 

The 31 test winger suffered an injury on his knee playing against South Africa in Pretoria last month but managed to play against Argentina in Rosario and even scored the match winning try. 

Ioane's knee injury flared up on the flight back to Australia from South America but if he is rested this weekend he should recover in time for the end of year tour. 

Wallabies coach Robbie Deans would have wanted all of his best players available for the clash against the All Blacks who are currently on a 16-match winning streak.

Deans has the option of replacing Ioane with utility back Adam Ashley-Cooper who was knocked out against South Africa or specialist wingers Dom Shipperley or Drew Mitchell.

Mitchell has not played since the second Bledisloe Cup test in which Australia were whitewashed 22-0 so rookie Shipperley who has had more game time lately is the more likely option. 

The All Blacks need one more victory to equal their own record of 17 test matches unbeaten and both Ashley-Cooper and five-eighth Kurtley Beale say that the All Blacks are a more formidable outfit this year compared to last year when they won the Rugby World Cup. 

The Wallabies did get a bit of a boost with the news that No.8 Radike Samo has been cleared to play this weekend after recovering from a biceps problem.
