Marx returns to Boland for Pumas

Pumas flyhalf Valentine van Wyk tore his knee ligaments in training on Monday and will be replaced by Tiaan Marx when they take on Boland in Wellington on Saturday in the first of two promotion/relegation matches.

Marx is well rested after not taking part in last week's final of the First Division against the Eagles and will, no doubt, relish the opportunity to play a key role in this vital match.

After their brilliant win over the Eagles, the Pumas are set on replacing the Boland in the Currie Cup next year and the first step is a crucial win down in Wellington.

The only other change is the long awaited return of Hendrik van der Nest, who broke his leg earlier in the season.

He replaces Juan Visser on the bench. The centre pairing of veteran Hyron Thysse and Sevens expert Shaun Venter on his outside worked against the Eagles and this firing power will again be unleashed against the Boland.

Boland coach Chester Williams had much to say about the scrum technique of big man Ronnie Uys but this has just motivated the prolific ball player even more.

Since his days with the Leopards, Uys has been a prop who loves to run with ball in hand and to score tries - which he did against the Eagles last week - and he will no doubt be out to prove a point.

Kick off is at 3.15pm.

Pumas:

MJ Mentz; Braam Pretorius, Shaun Venter, Hyron Thysse, Allister Ketteldas; Tiaan Marx, Jacques Coetzee; Doppies le Roux, Pieter Meyer, Jaco Bouwer, Marius Coetzer, Eduaan van der Walt, Ashley Buys, Hannes Franklin ©, Ronnie Uys.

Reserves: Dee-Jay Terblanche, Dawie Steyn, Savage van Heerden, Corné Steenkamp, Martin Sithole, Hendrik van der Nest, Ashwin Scott.
