England Rugby World Cup winning fly-half Jonny Wilkinson will have an operation on his groin on Saturday to relieve inflammation.

Wilkinson retired from playing international rugby for England after the last World Cup but still plays in France for Toulon.

The thirty-three-year-old is expected to play for Toulon this weekend in the Top 14 against the last placed team Mont-de-Marsan on Friday.

Wilkinson will have the operation a day after the Top14 Rugby match and then have a week of rest following the operation.
