The Anglo Welsh LV= Cup clash between Newport Gwent Dragons and Saracens at Rodney Parade on Friday evening has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

The pitch at Rodney Parade was frozen in the cold weather that has hit the United Kingdom this week and has been called unplayable.

A pitch inspection was done after a severe overnight frost with temperatures reaching as low a -8.

Areas of the Rodney Parade pitch remain frozen despite being under cover since Monday.

A statement from the match hosts Newport Dragons says, "Following a pitch inspection by a WRU official, tonight's game against Saracens has been called off.

"The Dragons are awaiting a decision from the LV= Organising Committee regarding the re-scheduling of this game."

"If the game is re-scheduled, all tickets will be valid for the re-arranged fixture."

"If it is not possible to re-schedule the game all tickets will be refunded with arrangements made for season ticket holders to reflect the reduction in Dragons home matches."

The tournament organising committee will convene next week to discuss the re-scheduling of the match.
