Sale Sharks have staged a cross-Pennine raid to seal their third signing under new executive director of sport Steve Diamond.

The Sharks have swooped to capture exciting second row forward Kearnan Myall from Aviva Premiership rivals Leeds Carnegie on a two year contract from the start of next season.

The 24-year old made his debut for Leeds, ironically against Sale back in the 2005-06 season, and has since gone on to establish himself as a firm regular in the Yorkshire side.

He won an England Saxons call-up last season and his excellent form also brought him to the attention of both Leicester and Northampton who were linked with a move for the 6ft 7in, 16st 11lbs powerhouse.

A former Huddersfield YMCA player, Myall also represented England Under-18s

And after sealing his signing, Diamond made no secret of his satisfaction at bring in a player whose best years are still very much ahead of him, adding that Myall fitted the template of what he is striving to build at Edgeley Park

"We are excited to be able to announce Kearnan's signing for Sale Sharks," said Diamond.

"He is an established player with both Leeds Carnegie and England Saxons and will add a lot to the squad. He is excellent in the line-out, which has been a major plus to Leeds this season and has a great work ethic.

"Kearnan is a versatile player who can fit into the back-row as well as at lock and he will fit in well with what we are building at Sale Sharks."

Myall's signing follows hard on the heels of the capture of fellow forwards Tony Buckley and Joe Ward and Sharks head coach Pete Anglesea revealed even more are in the pipeline.

"There are going to be a number of signings in the near future that we will be announcing," Anglesea added.

"We are looking at players from all over the world. We want the best players from around the world who will want to play for Sale Sharks.

"And what we are not doing is selling the past - we are selling the future. We are not selling it as in 'This is what is going on now. We are pitching it as being all about where the club is going.

"So in terms of speaking to potential new players its all about the future...not the past."
