Former Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan has emerged as a possible replacement for Scott Johnson who stood down last week as coach of the USA Eagles.
Australian Johnson was with the Wallabies in the 2007 Rugby World Cup after he had stood in for Wales as caretaker coach after Mike Ruddock left the head coach job.
Johnson has agreed to join the Ospreys as Director of coaching from the end of the season.
O'Sullivan has experience coaching the Eagles as he was their coach before he was named as Ireland's assistant coach in 1999.
The Irishman O'Sullivan enjoyed some success with Ireland winning three Triple Crowns but the team had always been expected to achieve greater heights.
This was especially the case in the 2007 world cup and the 2008 Six Nations which was so disappointing that it cost O'Sullivan his job even though he had been given a contract until 2011.
Since that time he has made two coaching trips to the United States.
