Premiership Rugby club Bath have announced that fullback Nick Abendanon has signed on for a further three years with the West Country club.

A very dangerous attacking player capable of opening up the tightest modern defences, Nick has established himself as an outstanding full-back with his committed, consistent performances, highlighted by the fact he has been voted the Players' Player of the Year for the last three seasons.

Since he burst onto the scene in the 2006/07 season, Nick has made over 150 appearances for Bath and has scored 140 points, so far, and shown his versatility by also playing on the wing on a number of occasions.

A current member of the England Saxons squad, Nick earned his first full England cap in the country of his birth, South Africa, in June 2007.

He has represented the Saxons since 2008, and was named the Player of the Tournament following his impressive performances in the Churchill Cup victory in 2010. Many believe that England's loss is Bath gain, that he should be in the squad for the Six Nations and was very unlucky not to have gone to last year's World Cup.

Speaking about the decision, Nick said: "I'm extremely happy to sign another contract here at Bath. This is where my home is and I love being involved with a club that has huge ambitions to win trophies both in England and in Europe. "

"I have real faith in the team we are building here and feel that in the coming years we will have trophies to prove it."

Director of Rugby, Sir Ian McGeechan, added: "We are delighted Nick has extended his contract with the Club. He is a very important member of the squad, both on and off the field, and his performances in the last two seasons especially have been consistently excellent."
