Newcastle Falcons held on to beat Sale 19-17 as Sharks flyhalf Dan Mugford missed a last minute penalty to hand the North East side the victory at Kingston Park.
The Falcons hoped they had done enough to win the match before Sale Sharks were awarded a late penalty.
However Mugford’s final penalty kick went to the right and Newcastle won the match.
