McCaw backs Highlanders but thinks Canes will win

All Blacks captain Richie McCaw has said that he would like to see the Highlanders
beat the Hurricanes in this year’s Super Rugby final and take the title.

The Hurricanes will host the Highlanders in Wellington in an all New Zealand
final and a new Super Rugby champion will be crowned as neither of the sides
have won the title yet.

McCaw is a born and bred North Otago man and went to Otago Boy’s High and is
still loyal to the south.

“I would love to see the Highlanders win but I’d probably have to go
with the Hurricanes but if the Highlanders play like they did last week, I’m
sitting on the fence, you never know,” he told ONE News.

While McCaw says his heart is backing the Highlanders his head says that the
Hurricanes will win the title as they “still had room for improvement from
last week.”

“If I was a betting man I’d probably go with the Hurricanes, but it’s
going to be close I think,” McCaw told Yahoo Sport.

The Crusaders and world rugby star said that he has been impressed by the way
the Highlanders have won their way through to the final.

“I was really impressed the way they played, the big thing will be if
they can repeat that.”

“But if they do it’s going to be a hell of a game,” added McCaw.
