Springbok legend Victor Matfield has suggested that he might not have played his last match for South Africa and could play at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Matfield’s last Test was against Argentina in the Rugby World Cup Bronze final and it was generally believed that this would be the last time that he would pull on the Springbok jersey.
However speaking in a short video clip for the The Dan Nicholl Show Matfield said that he was disappointed with people saying that he had played his last match.
“(I am) very disappointed last night, everyone is saying it’s my last game.”
“I’ve still got very big big dreams…. 2019 … Japan, I might be there,” said Matfield.
Thirty-eight-year-old Matfield has signed a contract to play for Northampton Saints in England and if he continued playing he would be 42 when the 2019 Rugby World Cup comes around.
