Mafi one of seven Castres signings for Top 14 Rugby

Steve Mafi has signed to join Castres

Tongan International and Western Force forward Steve Mafi is one of seven new signings by Top 14 Rugby club Castres for next season.

Australian born Mafi rejoined the Western Force from Leicester Tigers in England last year and was part of the Tongan Rugby World Cup squad.

The 26-year-old flanker and second rower has signed a two year deal with Castres with an option for a third.

Other signings announced by the French side include former Cheetahs centre Robert Ebersohn from Montpellier, Australian-born centre Afusipa Taumoepeau from second division Albi and New Zealand loose forward Ma’ama Vaipulu from the Chiefs.

French props Daniel Kotze (Clermont) and Damien Tussac (Montauban) Tudor Stroe (Tarbes) have also signed. Earlier this year Castres announced the signings of Clermont lock Loïc Jacquet and South African hooker Jody Jenneker from Oyonnax.
