Johannesburg Super Rugby franchise the Lions have announced that Pumas duo
Faf de Klerk and Corne Fourie for the 2016 season.
Both De Klerk and Fourie, who have played Super Rugby for the
Lions through loan agreements over the past two seasons, will return to Johannesburg
under permanent contracts in November 2015.
The pair has signed one-year contracts with Lions Rugby and will thus be involved
in both the 2016 Super Rugby and Currie Cup campaigns.
Head coach Johan Ackermann is excited to welcome both players back into the
Lions Rugby structures.
“I am very pleased with the signing of Faf and Corne, as they have
really become a part of the Lions family and have played important roles in
our Super Rugby journey in recent years,” said Ackermann.
“They have already made a big contribution to the Lions and will hopefully
enjoy it further here and continue to make a difference.
“Additionally, I am proud of Faf for his call up to the Springbok training
squad. It is wonderful to see how he used his opportunity at the Lions to propel
himself to the next level. I look forward to welcoming both him and Corne
back into our structures next season.”
