Lancaster ruled out of Japan coaching job

Former England head coach Stuart Lancaster was tipped to lead Japan

Former England head coach Stuart Lancaster has been ruled out of the running for the vacant head coach job with Japan who will host the next world cup.

Lancaster had been tipped to replace Eddie Jones who has ironically replaced Lancaster as England coach.

The 2019 World Cup hosts can match Lancaster’s £350,000-a-year contract and was close to being appointed but it now appears that last year’s Super Rugby winnning coach Jamie Joseph will be appointed.

Forty-six-year-old Lancaster believes that he needs to take an appointment outside of England to restore his reputation and is said to be interested in coaching at Super Rugby level.

Despite England’s early exit at the world cup, Lancaster’s winning record with England finished at 60.9 per cent from 28 victories, 17 losses and one draw.
