Hurricanes beat Western Force in Perth

The second match in Super Rugby Rd.3 is in Perth Western Australia where the Western Force host the Hurricanes who are coming off an unbeaten tour of South Africa.

We are waiting for the kick off.

The Force kick off and we are underway. 

.00: The Hurricanes receive the ball and kick it into touch. The Force win the line out and build up their attack 

1.30: Penalty to the Force. Not rolling away. 

2.00: Zack Holmes takes the penalty kick and nails it. The Force lead. 

5.00: The Huricanes win the ball from a scrum. They go through two phases and then kick deep. The Force kick back and the Hurricanes counter attack.

7.00: The Force defend the Hurricanes attack but take the ball into touch. The Hurricanes take the quick line out and attack at real pace – Julian Savea gets the ball with an open tryline ahead – and knocks on! 

8.00: The Hurricanes put in a huge scrum and it wins them a penalty on the 5m line. They choose the scrum again. 

9.00: The Force defend the scrum and win a penalty for illegally entering the breakdown. They kick for touch. 

11.00: The Hurricanes win the ball and Julian Savea races down the wing. he gets caught but the Canes keep the ball alive and change sides and Cory Jane goes over in the corner and runs it in closer to the posts. TRY!

12.00: Beauden Barrett misses the conversion but the Hurricanes lead. 

15.00: Penalty to the Force. Holmes takes the kick but misses to the left. 

17.00: Beauden Barrett makes a break on his own with a chip and chase but the Force just get back to beat him to the ball. The Force knock on so the Canes have a 5m scrum. 

18.00: The Canes win the scrum and Nonu goes for the line but is stopped. The Force kick back and the Hurricanes immediately counter attack but this time Brad Shields knocks on. The Hurricanes look dangerous. 

24.00:The Hurricanes are testing the Force’s defence. They are in the Force’s 22 going through phase after phase on attack. 

25.00: The Hurricanes rumble the ball up to the line and Mark Abbott scores. TRY! 

26.00: Barrett adds the conversion. 

28.00: The Force sustain some pressure from the Hurricanes and then win a penalty. They kick for touch and the line out. Kane Koteka comes on  for the Force to make his Super Rugby debut replacing  Angus Cottrell. 

30.00: Zack Holmes makes a break for the Force and gets them into the Hurricanes 22. They win a penalty at the breakdown. Holmes kicks for touch and the line out. 

32.00: The Force have the ball in the Hurricanes 22. They go through the phases but pass the ball back to no one. They recover and attack again but knock on. 

35.00: Penalty to the Hurricanes. Beauden Barrett takes the kick and slots it. 

37.00: The Force win a line out and start going through the phases on the half way line. Holmes kicks for touch and finds it in the Hurricanes 22. 

39.00: Penalty to the Force. They choose the line out. They win the line out and attack. 

40.00: The siren sounds as the Force attack in the Hurricanes 22.They win a penalty and tap and go but Mathewson hits a wall of defence. Another penalty to the Force in front of the posts. They will kick for posts.  

42.00: Luke Burton takes the penalty kick and nails it. 

It’s half time. 

The half time score was Force 6 Hurricanes 15

The Hurricanes kick off and we are underway with the second half. 

44.00: The Hurricanes are awarded a penalty so Beauden Barrett takes the kick and nails it extending the lead. 

47.00: The Force win a penalty back (for leaving the feet) so Luke Burton takes the kick and hits the post. 

52.00: The Hurricanes work the ball into the Force’s 22 with a line out. They win the line out and use the maul. 

54.00: The Hurricanes win a penalty. Barrett takes the kick and nails it. 

56.00: The Hurricanes are camped in the Force’s 22. The Force have a scrum.

57.00: The Force concede another penalty from the scrum. The Hurricanes choose the line out. It’s messy but the Hurricanes get the ball out. Nonu goes for the line but is held out. 

59.00: The Force keep the Hurricanes out and eventually push them out. We go back for a penalty. Hurricanes choose a scrum. 

60.00: The Hurricanes win the scrum and they drive Victor Vito over the line. TRY! 

61.00: Barrett adds the conversion and the Hurricanes are now in the hunt for  a bonus point. Barrett is replaced. 

63.00: The Hurricanes launch a counter attack from their 22 and Julian Savea shrugs off one tackle and then another and runs in the Bonus point TRY! 

64.00: James Marshall adds the conversion. 

65.00: James Marshall almost gets a fifth try for the Hurricanes but TMO replays show that he knocked the ball forward as he goes over the line. No try. 

69.00; The Hurricanes are keeping up the pressure on the Force in their half. 

70.00: Alby Mathewson comes off for the Force, 

71.00: Ma’a Nonu chips the ball ahead and it is kicked again for Savea who chases the ball, gathers it and scores. We go to the TMO to check. Savea was in front of the second kicker – no TRY!. 

74.00: The Hurricanes are kicking the ball a lot more which is making the Force attack from deep. 

76.00: Julian Savea tries a chip kick ahead but it is charged down by Sias Ebersohn who passes to Mitchell Scott who races away and scores a consolation try for the Force. 

78.00: Ebersohn adds the conversion. 

79.00;The Hurricanes win a line out as the siren sounds. They set up a maul and drive for the line. 

80.00:The Hurricanes get to the line and they go wide and James Marshall slams the ball on the tryline. TRY! 

The conversion is added and that is full time.
