Folau to miss start of Waratahs Super Rugby season

Israel Folau will have surgery on his ankle

Wallabies and Waratahs fullback Israel Folau looks set to miss the start of the 2016 Super Rugby season after undergoing surgery.

Folau will have surgery on his ankle next week and this will mean that he will have to pull out of a lucrative stint in Japan.

The fullback has been carrying the ankle injury through most of Australia’s Rugby World Cup campaign but played through the pain.

Folau’s decision to have surgery now will mean that he will be ruled out of action for at least four months so he will miss the opening month of the 2016 Super Rugby season at least.
