Bath and England forward Dave Attwood looks set to miss the whole of the 2016 Six Nations Championship after having surgery on his neck.
Twenty-eight-year-old Attwood is likely to be out for 10-12 weeks which puts his return at the end of March.
The Bath forward missed out on being selected for the Rugby World Cup and the surgery rules him out of contention for the Six Nations so he may only return at international level for England’s tour of Australia in June.
Attwood joined Bath from Gloucester for the 2011/2 season and has only played in seven matches this season.
The lock has been troubled with neck problems this season and the surgery he underwent was to repair a bulging disc.
