England coach Jones stuck in Japan with Visa issue

England head coach Eddie Jones says he will take an arrogant team to Australia

Newly appointed England head coach Eddie Jones’s arrival at Twickenham has been delayed due to him not having a visa to work in England.

Jones has remained in Tokyo and started work for the RFU while he waits for the paperwork to come through.

The former Japan coach’s first day on the job was Tuesday but instead of being behind a desk in London he was in Tokyo.

The delay appears to be with the Japanese embassy not responding to RFU attempts to speed the process up.

When Jones was appointed last month he arrived on a visitor’s permit but cannot return on a permanent basis until his visa has been issued.

In the meantime it is understood that Jones has asked RFU representatives to make contact with his coaching assistant with Japan at the World Cup, Steve Borthwick.

Former England captain Borthwick has recently joined Bristol Rugby Club and although he has only been there for a couple of weeks it is expected that the RFU will have to buy him out of his contract if he is to join Jones.
