Crusaders v Cheetahs Super Rugby Preview

Out of the last five Super Rugby matches between the Christchurch based Crusaders and the Bloemfontein based Cheetahs the Crusaders have won just three.

The Crusaders have played the Cheetahs 8 times since the Cheetahs joined Super Rugby in 2006 and the Crusaders have won six times and lost twice.

That gives the Crusaders a record of winning 75% of their home matches against the Cheetahs regardless of venue.

The average score when the Crusaders play the Cheetahs is :Crusaders 39 Cheetahs 20.

This weekend the match will be played in Christchurch which is home for the Crusaders and where the teams have met four times.

The Crusaders have won all four matches in Christchurch giving them a 100% record against the Cheetahs. The average score in Christchurch is : Crusaders 45 Cheetahs 13.

Interestingly the Crusaders have scored an average of seven tries per game against the Cheetahs in the city.

The Cheetahs have started Heinrich Brussow – to combat Matt Todd and Kieran Read – as one of four changes to the side that lost to the Sharks at home last week.

Brussow is joined by scrumhalf Tian Meyer, flyhalf Joe Pietersen and wing Clayton Blommetjies.

The Crusaders have rested Richie McCaw for this match but they have brought back All Black fullback Israel Dagg and Kieron Fonotia moves onto the wing replacing the injured Johnny McNicholl.

The Bookies have given the Cheetahs an 18 point start for this Match – with an offer of a FREE $150 BET. The looked to have found several parts of their game last week that had been missing. The Cheetahs in comparison started the season well but have faded. The Crusaders should win this by 15.
