Christie to co-captain Highlanders in Super Rugby

Shane Christie will co-captain the Highlanders

The Highlanders have announced that Shane Christie will co-captain the Super Rugby champions in their 2016 campaign which starts in February.

Christie will co-captain the Highlanders with Ben Smith who was captain this season when the Highlanders won their first Super Rugby title.

Christie replaces Nasi Manu who has joined Scottish club Edinburgh in the Pro 12 on a two year contract.

Like Manu, Christie joined the Highlanders from the Crusaders and is a loose forward.

The Highlanders will warm up for the defence of their Super Rugby title with three pre-season matches and start their season against the Blues in Auckland.

Highlanders v Toulon – Saturday 6th February, Siu Sai Wan Stadium, Hong Kong

Highlanders v Crusaders – Thursday 11th February 5.45pm, Fred Booth Park, Waimumu

Highlanders v Waratahs – Friday 19th February 5.45pm, Queenstown Recreation Ground
