Carter set to be unveiled as Perpignan player in two weeks

All Black flyhalf Dan Carter, who has agreed to join French side Perpignan on a six-month contract, will be officially unveiled on September 21, according to the club’s website Tuesday.

In June Carter signing up with the French Top 14 side after he was granted a special six month “sabbatical” to play in Europe by the New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU).

He will visit the French side’s set-up and be introduced to the press during September’s four-day whistle-stop tour that also includes London and Barcelona, the website said.

The club confirmed that Carter is scheduled to play his first competitive match in December.

“I will arrive in December to play, but as part of my contract I’m coming before to meet all the people at the club,” Carter told the website.

The flyhalf is thought to be picking up in the region of 1.8 million dollars for his European stint.

The NZRU has been desperate to keep the services of Carter and came up with a special deal allowing him to join a European club after the All Blacks tour to Britain and Ireland at the end of the year.

The 26-year-old will miss next year’s Super 14 series but will return to New Zealand in June to join the All Blacks for the start of their home season.
