Brumbies storm into Super Rugby Semi-finals

The Brumbies have booked a place in the 2015 Super Rugby Semi-finals
by beating the Stormers 19-39 at Newlands in Cape Town.

The result means that the Brumbies will face the Hurricanes in Wellington and the Highlanders will face the Waratahs in Sydney next Saturday

The Brumbies victory is the second time that they have won a knockout match against a South African side in South Africa as they beat the Bulls 23-26 in Pretoria in the 2013 season.

An explosive first half performance from the Brumbies set up the victory in
which they outscored the Stormers by six tries to one as they outclassed the Stormers in all departments.

The Brumbies finished the match with 13 players on the field as Henry Speight
was red carded in the 73rd minute for a dangerous tackle on Juan de Jongh and Scott Fardy was yellow carded for pulling down a maul in the 74th minute.

Three of the Brumbies six tries were scored by hat-trick hero New Zealand-born
rugby league convert Joe Tomane who wreaked havoc in the opening half.

Tomane scored the third of his tries in the 25th minute of the first half and
by half time the Brumbies had scored their fourth and were leading 6-24 at half
time after Prop Scott Sio barged over as well.

The South African side fared better early in the second half and twice got
within eight points, but never looked like snatching victory.

No. 8 Ita Vaea and full-back Jesse Mogg also crossed the try-line for the Brumbies
and fly-half Christian Lealiifano kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Incredibly the Brumbies scored their sixth try when Mogg slipped through in
the corner while they were two men short due to the yellow and red cards.

And the Brumbies won the only tight-head of the scrum battle when packing down
a man short in the closing stages.

Fly-half Demetri Catrakilis converted a try by full-back Cheslin Kolbe and
kicked four penalty goals for the Stormers.

The home side suffered a pre-match blow when veteran flanker Schalk Burger
was ruled out by a groin injury.
