Aviva Premiership Rugby club Saracens have confirmed that winger Chris Ashton has decided to appeal against his ten week suspension.
Ashton was suspended last week but after receiving the full written decision of the independent Disciplinary Hearing Judicial Officer on Friday, 22 January he has decided to appeal against the level of the sanction imposed.
The former England wing pleaded not guilty after he was cited by the match Citing Commissioner, Yves Thieffine (France), for allegedly making contact with the eye(s) and/or eye area of the Ulster Rugby centre, Luke Marshall (No 13), in the 16th minute of the European Rugby Champions Cup Round 5 match at Allianz Park in contravention of Law 10.4 (m).
Ashton was included in the orginal Six Nations squad but has now been replaced by Semesa Rokoduguni while he deals with the appeal.
Details of the Appeal will be released in the near future.
