Gloucester captain Marco Bortolami will not require surgery to the fractured left eye socket sustained during Sunday’s 29-21 win over Ulster in the Heineken Cup.
Following further consultation with a specialist in Milan on Tuesday evening, the injury is now not as serious as first feared and the 27- year-old could return to action in four weeks.
Bortolami, who will miss Gloucester’s Guinness Premiership match against Wasps on Saturday, will rest for 10 days before resuming training.
