Bristol Coach Richard Hill has said that he knew Bristol’s Heineken Cup hopes were finished by half time. He says that when Cardiff Blues scored two first-half tries in Sunday’s 17-0 match he knew it was all over.
Cardiff Blues Maama Molitika and Gareth Thomas scored a try each in the match.
“We let ourselves down in the last 10 minutes of the first half and that was the difference.” said Hill to BBC Radio Bristol.
“Those were two killer blows and when they went 14-0 up it was game over.”
“It was a valiant effort and there were some good individual performances. We tried to play some rugby but it was difficult in those conditions.” he added.
The end result was that Cardiff Blues went through to the quarter finals and they will now face Toulouse.
The Blues’ victory ended Bristol’s outside chance of qualifying from Pool Three and took Cardiff through to the last eight of the competition.
